Well, the running joke is from the book “The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy” is that the answer to the meaning of life is 42.
Wouldn’t it be nice if it was all that simple? I’m sorry to say, it isn’t.
And this joke of “the answer is 42” is well intended, because it points to the fruitless effort of searching for the meaning of life in the form of some kind of simple answer.
Because as soon as you start looking for the meaning of life from outside of yourself, in a neat and tidy package, you’ll never find it.
The meaning of life isn’t “out there” rather it’s “in here”. Or rather it’s within you.
You see the fact you are searching the Internet or trying to find the answer in the form of informational knowledge is the wrong way to go, I’m sorry to say.
No one knows the answer to the question of what is the meaning of life, and perhaps they never will. The real question is, would you be OK never knowing the meaning of life, living in wonder and awe in its mystery, and making your own meaning?
Making life an adventure of your own creation and design, instead of struggling and suffering trying to find “The Answer”?
Finding the answer is in living IN the mystery itself. It’s not about knowing through more information, more facts more figures, more stuff outside of you, it’s about living and experiencing your full humanity while you are on this earth, living in this universe.
So when it comes down to it, if you dig deep, I’ll bet you really aren’t searching for the meaning of life, but the meaning of YOUR life…which is FAR easier to address by the way.
You’re searching for fulfillment because you might have that empty feeling, and looking for some kind of meaning to fill it.
One of the best ways to really being to explore this experience is through meditation.
When you learn how to do meditation – you get to deepen your experience of yourself and your underlying consciousness.
You get to experience things on a deeper level while in a quiet place to practice so you can remove the extra stimulus.
Once you get more comfortable with the experience of meditation, you naturally learn to be more present – which is also known as “mindfulness”.
Learning to be more present has the most far reaching effects on your life in dissolving the struggle of human suffering, dissolving limiting beliefs and enlivening life itself.
Not only that, being present leads to excellence in whatever you are doing in your work (see the post on how to be successful), with your relationships, your health, or whatever skill you are working on.
It’s quite an amazing experience.
There’s an entire field of study known as “Quantum Spirituality” – that talks about not only how we observe life is how it shows up, but also that we affect the reality field itself.
It’s pretty wild stuff and very interesting to try some experiments with it in your life.
So if there are any real answers to be had (and I’m not saying there are), the answers like within.
Seek wisdom instead of knowledge and then answers aren’t so necessary, as to be fully immersed in your life, discovering your passions.
